Pets In The Car

Hello All,

Hope you are having a great summer!!!  I was driving home the other day and noticed a big chocolate Lab riding in the passenger seat of a pickup truck with his head sticking way out of the window.  His ears were flapping and he was barking at the other cars that had dogs in them.  A little while later I as I got closer to home I noticed an SUV coming out of a drugstore parking lot with a Jack Russell sitting on the drivers lap.  I'm sure you have all seen this as well, but did you know that New Jersey has a pet restraint law that requires pets to be seat belted or in a pet carrier that is secured.  I didn't know this but apparently this is a law that has been on the books for many years but has recently been getting more attention by law enforcement.  The fine for an unrestrained pet ranges from $200 - $1000....ouch!!

I agree that unrestrained pets, especially the ones sitting on drivers laps are a driving distraction that can lead to disasterous conseqeunces.  Remember that in an accident, anything that is unrestrained is going to continue moving inside the car cabin at road speed.  I've added a Pets catagory to my products page where you can find harnesses and restrains for your four footed family member.

Have a great a safe second half of the summer!!!
