I saw an interesting article in Healthy Living magazine that reviews some of the basic information to keep in mind regarding the use of child safety seats. The article focuses on three basic principles; find a seat that fits your childs's age, length and weight, and fits your vehicle.
- Rear-facing seats for infants and toddlers. 1-2 year olds have a 500% decreased risk of injury if they are in a rear facing seat.
- Forward-facing seats with a harness as your child progresses from toddler to pre-schooler.
- Booster seats for school aged children until they reach a height of 4' 9" approximately 8-12 years old.
- Seat belts for older kids.
